Have anyone actually played around with this?

So far I've only seen demo on the video.

MFGF

Yep - I've been using it on both an iPad and an iPhone.  The usual gestures make it easy to navigate around within reports - the only slight disappointment is that when charts are zoomed in a long way, you lose the resolution and they appear quite blocky.  At the moment, Business Insight content is displayed on the iPad in the same way as on the iPhone (ie the widgets form a vertical list), even though there is enough screen landscape in an iPad to display them alongside each other.  I'm hoping this gets addressed by IBM as it's a shame not to utilse all of that big, big screen! :)

Cheers!

MFGF, how difficult is it to install and set up the Cognos Mobile Server?

antexity

I heard the disadvantage to having your reports viewed on Apple products vs BB products is that you have to be connected to your server in order to use your dashboard via wifi etc..   and with BB its a complete disconnect (viewable on planes, trains and automobiles)   is that correct?

MFGF

Correct, yes. Mobile on the Apple devices is via the Safari browser, but is via an installed app on the other non-Apple mobile platforms. This means the Apple devices must be connected via wifi or mobile network, whereas the others can be used offline once content has been downloaded.

MF.

Yes - the Cogos 10 iPad application can also be used with the Mobile server in Cognos 8.4. Of course, you will not be able to use any Active Reports, since Cognos 8 doesn't support them, but all the normal C8 reports will work fine in the App.

Hi MFGF,
I understand that , in Apple products, there are 2 ways of accessing cognos reports , one via Cognos Mobile (Client Application from Istore) and other way via Safari Browser...
I understand that Viewing reports offline via Safari is not possible as it needs to have a connectivity with the server, but in the other case, when we access reports via Cognos Mobile Client, Can we view the reports OFFLINE?

I am pretty new to this Cognos Mobile Platform.. Any help on this would be of great!

Thanks,
KANAG

You can access the normal reports (cognos 8.4 or 10.x) via mobile phone using cognos connection.
Also, you can view Active Reports (offline reports) using the IPAD through installing the IBM Cognos APP for Ipad.
The problem is, that Safari, though being supported by Cognos as client application since Cog10, can not work with MHTML files, which are the format for the (offline useable) active reports

cheerz :P
