Dear Gurus

We have to create a page where I need to show the differences between two years and to display an up or down arrow mark depending on this values.

Also there is a cross tab in the same page next to this.

The report was successfully validated. When I run the report I am not getting any values in the page.

When I am tried to check the tabular data I got the below error:

RQP-DEF-0177 An error occurred while performing operation 'sqlPrepareWithOptions' status='-16'. UDA-SQL-0358 Line 9: Syntax error near "between". RSV-SRV-0042

2.  After assigning the page to the query and updating the variables in the properties, I got the Master Detail error.

RSV-VAL-0010 Failed to load the report specification. RSV-VAL-0021 The master-detail link is missing from the crosstab or chart..

I got rid of this by giving the link to the same column in the same query. After this the report got validated and ran but didnt gave any value.

3. Also I didnt get the images in the excel output. I tried to color a table to look like an arrow mark but it was looking very awkward in the excel with big sized
columns.

I am so confused not knowing where I am going wrong. Its like I am triggering error after error. I have attached the requirement and the report spec in the my next reply.

Please help !!

Thanks
Pravin

Report Specs for the report attached below. This include various other pages which are fine.

Thanks

Assigning a query to the page would be the way when you use a table. The table itself is not datacontainer, but needs the page for this.  A crosstab IS a datacontainer and would use its own query.
Up and down arrows can - best -  be references to stored image files that are conditionally shown. Coloring a table to look like and arrow mark is beyond me   :o

Hi Blom

Actually I have the put 4 figures which were to show the difference in a table to organise them. Then I have used a Repeater table with display of 1 Across and 1 down to show only the difference. The Crosstab lies beside these rows in the same page (as shown in the screen shot).

If I didnt assign the page to the query, there was an error as below with those conditional variables which were used to display the images.

RSV-VAL-0002 Invalid expression [Your Benefits At a Glance].[No of Lives] < 0. CRX-API-0005 An error on or around the position '0'. The variable named '[Your Benefits At a Glance].[No of Lives]' is invalid.

To resolve this I had to attach the page to the same query as of the crosstab as suggested by IBM. Again this lead to another Master-Detail error. I resolved it by creating a MD relationship between the crosstab and the page though they were using the same query (Again suggested by IBM). And I ended up with no data at all :)

Coloring a table would not yield the expected result but this is the least I could think to meet the requirements at least to some extent [though its not working as I expected :( ]

Hope this explains the situation a bit more clearly..

I am at a loss why you would use a single query for such different data as you use to present in the table/repeater  as opposed to the data shown in the crosstab. The whole MD issue escapes me as well. You should not need it in the first place..

Dear Blom

I figured out the issue with the help of your reply. It was with the report dataitems properties. Thanks a ton for your help !!

Sorry for bugging you :)

Cheers

Pravin,Could you please elaborate what exactly you do and how did you resolve the issue. Thanks
Boy! Cognos getting on to me!!!

Dear Barrysaab

Are you facing the same issue?

As stated in my earlier posts, I was trying to show the differences between two years and to display an up or down arrow mark depending on this values. Also there was a crosstab in the same page.

As I triggered quite a few errors (as I always click the mines in minesweeper :( ), I checked the usage properties of the data items I was using. One of it was an attribute but I was using calculations on it. When I changed the property to a fact and ran the report, it gave me correct values for the tables. I am not quite sure if this is the real solution but now, I am getting my values correct.

Hope this answers your question.

Now working on the Up and Down arrow marks display in Excel output (As usual, triggering new errors ;) )

Thanks
