DMR - dimension query subject not aggragating

I have inherited a DMR Cognos 8 FW model.  I am trying to work with it to create cross tab reports that show rows that have no revenue as well as those that do. So far, so good. Using the levels already modeled, I can create the reports I need. However, now we have a requirement for a report that includes the Sales Group, which is not a level.

I've attached a .DOC with the model structure, the Xtab report that I use to test with and the output of that report. As you can see, the Sales Group is not aggregating/grouping like it should.

It's been awhile since I did DMR modeling, so I'm not sure how to correct this. The Sales Group is an attribute of the Sales Organization level. I need to know how to get it so that it groups correctly.

Any insight would be helpful, and any suggestions of references online or printed would be welcome.

I suspect that Sales Group is wrongfully defined as an attribute to Sales Organization level in the sense that it does not relate 1:1 to the level key. That would explain why you get get multiple occurences for the Sales Group (as the underlying key of the Sales Organzation Level has multiple values for each Sales Group)

Appreciate the insight, blom0344!

Makes sense, and it looks like you are correct.

What would be a good way to set Sales Group up, then?

Thanks!

As its own dimension..  (or with the proper level already existing in another dimension)

OK, here's what I've done, but it still gives me more rows for each Sales Group.

Not sure how to fix this...

See Attached for setup/definition.

Well, of course you will see multiple rows when testing since the underlying set will consist of probably more than 1 record..

By the way, if your level consists of 1 dataitem, then make sure it has both the role of _businesskey and _membercaption!!
