Is it possible to view reports offline , once run on the Ipad?

ie we have connected successfuly to teh server, can see public and my folder. Run reports from teh server to I Pad. Where are these saved? Is there a setting to enable this offline capability

It would appear that once disconnected from the server all reports taht are "on the IPad"! are no longer acessible. ddespite the literature stating  "After running the report, it will be stored locally on the iPad and available for disconnected consumption"

Try setting your lease key longer. From the docs...
http://public.dhe.ibm.com/software/data/cognos/documentation/docs/en/10.1.1/ig_mob.pdf

Set a Lease Key
IBM Cognos Mobile uses the concept of a lease to govern access to data stored on
mobile devices.
Data is leased from the server for a length of time controlled by the IBM Cognos
administrator through the Lease.DurationHours advanced setting. The device
renews its lease whenever it communicates with the server, so the
Chapter 5. Security 37
Lease.DurationHours setting indicates the maximum amount of time that a user
can access data on a device that is out of contact with the server, for example,
offline, out of wireless range, and so on. If a device is unable to renew its lease
within the specified period of time, the data on the device becomes inaccessible.
Procedure
1. Start IBM Cognos Connection.
2. In the upper-right corner, click Launch, IBM Cognos Administration.
3. On the Configuration tab, click Dispatchers and Services.
4. Under Name, click the dispatcher.
5. Next to MobileService, in the Actions column, click the set properties button.
6. Click the Settings tab.
7. Next to Advanced settings, click the Edit link.
8. Next to Lease.DurationHours, type a value in hours.
Valid settings are 0 to 8760. The default is 36 hours.

Thanks Grim

We will try this - seems to make sense as I was able to see off line reports prior to the weekend

Im assuming that setting this to zero would mean that you could never access offline

lowisstephen

Hi - this doesn't seem to have worked. ie this is set at 36 hours - but after logging on and off this morning the issue still persists

The reports appear in the view of 'reports on my ipad' - but they will not open - ie i can only open the samples

any other ideas ?  (im sure this worked last week offline)

Grim

Are you using the client app (Downloaded from the app store), or the web app(http://server/cognos/m)?

Hi - using the app from the app store

Grim

Well that's about where my help cuts out. I don't have an iPad. Perhaps someone else can chime in and help here.

Suggestions:
1. Have you gone through the app settings to see if there might be any config items there that can be changed?

2. Open a PMR with IBM Cognos support and see if they can reproduce the behavior.

well, another option would be to create an active report.
Means, you are creating an active report in cog 10 or transform an existing normal report in an active report. with the ipad app you will be able to read the active reports once you have downloaded them, possible because the ctive report is a mht file containing the data from the queries and the layout information as well.
there are several posts on that topic in this forum, also you there are greate pdfs out in the net (e.g. active report cookbook)
cheerz :P

Well, I think you should not manually logoff yourself from the app to see the reports under view - 'reports on my ipad'. It's Stranage but, status on app shows as if we are online even though we get out of network (unless we opt to logoff from app). And that is when, we can see these reports. However you would not be able to navigate through the Public/My Folders. You would only be able to see the reports which were recently ran.

Do not log off or completely close the Cognos app or you will lose your lease key. If you do either of these (or restart the iPad) you will lose your active credentials and be unable to open the reports locally untill you re-authenticate.

MF.
