Hey, has any one any idea regarding reports in map manager in Cognos 8.4. Can we have specific representation of US cities in its reports??

DustPanMan

You can.  The tool is from Map Info.  They will sell you additional pre-built maps.  Or, you can create your own in the Map Manager tool.  If this is something that you are interested in, please feel free to reach out to me.  In addition to hosting COGNOiSe.com, we are also a reseller of Cognos.

Best regards,

Dustin

Just to add to Dustin's point, if the cities you require are already represented in the standard map files but have different data point values than your database codes/names, you can use the Map Manager shipped with FM to open the relevant cmf file and add your own specific aliases, allowing you to tie in with data in your database.

Yes, you can use standard map files and create aliases.

But when you need the specific maps or data containers (customized maps, schemes, 2D objects, 3D objects) you can contact Business Maps company. Visit their web pages www.en.businessmaps.cz.

What if I need a country like Singapore for example, how can I do it on IBM cognos map manager?..Is it possible to create a new map using this tool?Or do I need to use a third-party like map Info Professional tool? Thanks in advance. Good day! :)

Nope - you can't create new map files with the Map Manager tool Cognos ships. You need to either purchase a predefined map of Singapore from MapInfo (then open it with Map Manager and save it as a cmf file) or purchase MapInfo Professional and create the Singapore map yourself.

Cheers!
