I'm looking for ways to set up user access to cognos portal from outside the company network/firewall.

Once inside the LAN/VPN, users are having no trouble accessing the portal and run the reports.

Thank you all for suggestions/inputs.

Have you tried it? Are you getting an error? This is more of a network question. Cognos doesn't care where you access it from as long as your network is set up accordingly.

Basically you need to ensure that your web server is visible to wherever you want to access it frrom.

You need to have a chat with your network guys.
If direct access from the big bad internet is not allowed, you need to:

A: Put a Cognos gateway server in the DMZ.
B: Put a reverse proxy server in the DMZ.
C: Setup vpn tunnels from the client location to the Cognos application server.

If direct access from the big bad internet is allowed, just open up port 80 in the firewall from internet to the lan adres of the cognos server.
Then talk to your network guys about resolving, as the normal cognos server name resolving will not work on the big bad internet, so a firewall NAT routing will need to be setup using the firewall, or you need to add a public ip adres to the cognos server.

Regardless of the route you take, you will need the network guys to help you out.
