GTP Fail - Unable to reconcile E-List

Looking for some advice. GTP has failed on one particular E-List with the following error message.

Exception encountered when working with the model

Error executing J expression : 'ACE2_rc ACE2_xids BlockPackages' =: 93 ReconcileBlocks_IModelEdit_NodeGuids;OldBlockPackages; <PackageFormat

Can someone point me in the right direction to resolve.

Thanks

Hi KayP,

Was it during the GTP process itself that you received the error message or after the GTP and during the reconcile?  If possible, attach a screen shot to this thread in a reply.

Usually these messages mean a few things:

1. There was an increase in dimension members that has increased the size of the model.  Please confirm the size of this application in Application Maintenance > Application Details and write back with the number of cells / e-list slice.  If the members have been increased it is possible that you will have to do some maintenance work to trim things down.

2. You have a d-link in analyst that is causing problems, usually they're update links.

Do a search on the systems for a JCE tmp file that might reveal more information.  Do a search, specifically, for: jce*.tmp and make sure to include all hidden system files and folders.

IT was during the GTP process. The application had failed to reconcile prior to this and I made changes in Analyst the reduce the largest cube by reducing the number of dimensions. (in Analyst 60m to 10m).

I cannot attach the screenshot but the details are as follows:

D-Cubes : 6
D-Links: 2
Total cells in application (per e-list slice): 38,201,438
Largest Cube: 20,433,600
Total number D-List items: 1,526
Largest dimension: 516
E-List: 38

I couldn't find the JCE file but not sure I'm searching correctly.

Hi KayP,

You may be stuck.  If the application failed to reconcile because of a model issue, you need that reconcile to complete in order to correct the analyst model problem.  Otherwise, we can't get the GTP process to start to implement the newer model changes due to the failed reconcile needing to complete.

I normally, at this point in time, recommend:
1. Restore the application database from backup to a point in time prior to the failure.
2. GTP the application.
3. Correct the analyst model (you've already done this)
4. Sync and GTP.

Assuming your modeling changes are sufficient, you should be able to get through the GTP and reconcile.

Side note:
Those application details are massive.  You have 38 million cells per slice and the only way I can imagine that this is working is with the use of cut-down models and no data access tables.

Hope this helps.  If you have concerns of what I've proposed or have problems following through, I would suggest logging a ticket with IBM support.

KayP,

I agree with Eric on the use of cut-down models and access tables.  I'm also curious about 6 cubes and only 2 links...I guess this is primarily for data input with limited "processing."

Also, you may consider reviewing whether your elist is at the right level of detail or if there might be an opportunity to make the elist more granular to reduce the size of the model per elist slice.
