Hello

I have a call open with Cognos on this issue but am posting here in case anyone has come across this.

Version is 8.4.0 FP1, SQL Server 2005, Win 2003 Server-  Development multiserver environment.

An error happens when a model is GTP'd either manually or though a macro.  Message from planingerrorlog

Unable to notify job types of Post Production.~~~~The Reporting Publish component has failed to process the post-production notification.~~~~Object variable or With block

The error clears if I delete the publish container.  A Go to production is successfully run.

If I try to reattach the publish container it complains its not in the right format.  So I have to delete the DB and re-create.

Regards

Just a guess, but are you trying to publish annotations?

Also, are you using SQLOLEDB or SQLNCLI?  As I recall, one is necessary for the application databases and the other is for the publish containers, which addresses some issues we were having...don't have the time to go back through my notes, at the moment....

We're on 8.4.1 FP2 (as of today), SQL 2005, Win 2003, for most of our boxes...

Hi

Yes User anotations are selected in the publish.

Connection is SQLNCLI.  Models and publish DB.
There were issues I experienced with SQLOLEDB vs SQLNCLI on 8.1.  Maybe there are still issues with 8.4.0 fp1.  With 8.1 had to create in SQLOLEDB and then could run using SQLNCLI.

Wish we were on FP2, or even 10, but there you go.

Remove the user annotations, first, just to test if that resolves the issue.  If it does, then you are done.  Otherwise, you might consider the SQLOLEDB vs SQLNCLI...

Thanks for this.

Ive been able to get Cognos Support to recreate the issue.  I believe it has now gone to their DEV to be looked at.

Short term I can delete the publish container as Im in development, but longer term ill let Cognos earn their keep (or support money) :)

Perhaps Ill get the you need to upgrade result :)

Thanks

Stuart
