Hi,

I am having tough time in Exporting the Package in Framework Manager and deploying into another Framework Manager.

I copied the Project Folder into the new Framework Manager machine, but the database is pointing to old database system, how do i change this ?

Thanks

Merri

I assume that what you are trying to do is deploy to another environment, rather than export.

Framework Manager uses the data sources defined on Cognos Connection. Assuming you are trying to set up a different Cognos Connection for your different environment, did you:

a) change the database connection info on the new Cognos Connection;
b) change the gateway info in Cognos Configuration on the new machine, in order to point to the new environment?

Hi ,

Thanks for the reply.

I couldn't find the option to change "a) change the database connection info on the new Cognos Connection;"

Can u please suggest on where do i need to change ?

Thanks

Merri

On Cognos Connection, go to Directory, Data Sources and find the appropriate connection you need to modify.  Click on this, then then Set Properties icon. Go to the Connection tab and change the connection properties as required (type and connection string).
This will redefine the data source connection info on the server.

Note that you need to have directory admin rights to do this.

Then, open Framework Manager and give it a whirl.

Let us know if this helps.

Hi,

I tried as u said, i changed the connection string and while testing i gave the userid and password but when i close and again open the connection the supplied userid and password are not stored.

Do i need to do anything while exporting the reports ? As i am Exporting the Reports from MR1.0 to MR1.2 and I am exporting the Model in the Framework Manager from System A to System B.

System A is pointing OracleA server and System B is pointing to OracleB Server.

Now can u please suggest me on which location do i need to change so that the reports that i exported to MR1.2 and Model point to OracleB ?

Thanks

Merri

I don't understand what you mean by "userid and password are not stored". This is a setting you can modify - did you check the permissions for this data source?

Did you change the gateway URI in Cognos Configuration on the Framework Manager machine?

Data sources in FM are handled in much the same way as in Impromptu. If you are pointing to a particular Cognos Connection install (the gateway URI setting), it will use the data source defined there.
Reports don't connect directly to a database, they just use the data source name defined in the model. Where that data source points is defined in Cognos Connection. You need to make sure this connection is changed to your requirements.

Also, what do you mean by "MR1.0 to MR1.2"? Do you mean ReportNet 1.0 to ReportNet 1.1 MR2?

Hi,

Here is the qucik thing i need to with this, as i developed the application i need to Give the reports and Framework Manager Package tot he client. I Exported the reports and packages and deployed in new system for which database is pointing to new database. So when ever i run the report its asking for userid and password. so i took the backup of database and installed in new system but still the same problem. When i changed the Configuration Connection back to the old system database its working fine.

But my worry is in the client system i will not have the same system name and its not a good idea to ask him to change the system name

I Guess i am clear in my explanation if not also i can post agn, as this is very important

Thanks

Merri

When you enter the user name and password at the database request, do the reports then work and return the expected data? This would indicate that at least you're connecting to the right place.
In that case, you just need to modify the Cognos Connection setting to make the signon details persist.

I don't know what you mean by having to ask the user to "change the system name". Which system name? Why would you need to ask him to change it?
