Hi,

We're still on ReportNet 1.1, and I need to learn FM, but they don't offer FM classes much anymore (not in the Midwest)Ã,  Was thinking of taking the Cognos 8 Metadata Modeling (FM) classes.

The question is: will Cognos 8 FM be similar enough that the class will be useful to me on RN1.1?

Eventually, we will goto C8, but need something that will work for now as well. The hope is that the class will be close enough and teach most/all of what I need, and simply have additional features highlighted that I can't use yet.

I have not taken either course, but I suspect it will be close.  The key features of FM 8 is the ability to do more dimensional modeling.  The key relational components are the same, as far as I can tell.

The two versions are very similar.  Take the C8 course.  I've recommended coworkers to take the C8 courses even though they work on CRN now, just because they are very similar and eventually you'll use C8.

Regards,

Mike
