Alternative to Go Mobile?

I have been testing out a demo install of Cognos Go Mobile for 10.1 (fp1). We were hoping for generically rendered browser-based reports with no client install required. I have been somewhat disappointed. The interface overall is ok. It reformats the reports somewhat but generally they look acceptable. Simple non-interactive reports look ok. Issues? Though it does support drilldowns (somewhat clunkily), there does not appear to be support for embedded prompts, which we use quite a bit. I think embedded javascript is not going to work (though I can understand that a little). There are other things that seem to get lost in the reformatting. I could probably work around the issues with special versions of the reports, but for many somewhat obvious reasons that is not desirable. I guess Write Once View Everywhere is not quite there yet.

I really wish Cognos was more browser agnostic. Ideally reports would render generically on any browser supporting reasonably current standards. But if you have ever looked at the generated HTML/CSS/Javascript on even a simple list with drilldowns, it is pretty hairy. You'd think a drilldown would be a straightforward generated link, but it is far from it both markup-wise and layers and layers of javascript libraries. Legacy code I suppose. The Cognos back end seems to me to be XML/SOAP so you'd think we could get something a little more generic out the front end.

Anyway, has anybody used 3rd party offerings? Do they offer support for drilldowns, embedded prompts, etc? I suspect not, but would be thrilled to learn otherwise. Maybe I'll have to look at other approaches, perhaps using mashups or other custom code.

Thanks in advance for any pointers to products.
