Hi,

I have a strange requirement that I am not sure if it can be handled in Cognos but want to give it a try.

I have a standard set of existing reports that users run and review. As part of a new process, we want to create another report which will serve as an "approval screen" and transmit a message to another application. After the user reviews the reports, the user needs to run this "approval" report which will contain a set of prompts that the user will need to select.

The prompts will be a series of Yes/No questions (probably a checkbox) that the user will need to answer. After answering YES to the questions, the user should be able to click on a submit button to run the report. They should not be able to click on the submit button until the above questions have been answered to YES. This "approval" report will not need to have any data displayed on the report. The report just needs to be run so that the user can generate the prompt and generate the xml file.

I would like for the submit button to act as a trigger to generate an xml file and store the file in a directory on the Cognos server. Another application will pick up the xml file.

The xml file only needs to contain minimal information.

Can this be done in Cognos? Also, can the submit prompt be hidden until previous prompts are completed with a YES>?

Thanks in advance.
