Hi,

Has anyone migrated Impromptu catalogues to CX? Any ideas/options or do they need to be set up from scratch in FM?

Thanks!
Carsten

In theory, the migration process should be exactly the same as the process to move to Cognos 8.  How practical this process is will depend upon how simple your Impromptu catalogs are and what functionality you require.  Express (and Cognos 8) have an entirely different architecture from Imprompu, and there are some critical modelling guidelines you will need to observe in Express that were meaningless in Impromptu.  In many situations, it works out best to start from scratch and build new packages and reports in Express (or Cognos 8) and use the exercise as an opportunity to review the business requirements and build a solution which exactly addresses them.
If you really do want to migrate your catalogs, look up the migrate2c8 utilities from IBM - they allow you to convert your Impromptu catalogs and reports to XML definitions which can be imported into C8 (and Express).

MF.
