Hi all in the COGNOS community,

I was hoping someone out there has had some luck bursting with dimensional data in COGNOS 8 report studio.

The current process I utilize is in the attachment below ...

We create our cubes through Transformer and not through Framework Manager.Ã,  Would this possibly be our first mistake?Ã,  Should we begin creating our cubes through Framework Manager?Ã,  Or will there not be much difference?

Hi Berry,

Could you please let us know... if you got the solution.
Please post the solution if you have resolved the issue.

Thanks,
Praveen.

Hi.

Cubes are built using Transformer, then published as packages using Framework manager.  There are no facilities in Framework Manager to build cubes.  You can, however, model relational data to make it behave like a cube (DMR), but the resultant packages still get the studios to generate SQL which is sent to the database(s), rather than MDX being sent to a cube.

I will try your dimensional bursting example to see if I can get it to work here.

Regards,

MF.

Hi all,

I HAVE A SOLUTION FOR MY OWN ISSUE HERE!!!

I'm at work right now but I will try the best I can to re-document the document cognos sent me to be more specific when bursting based on your 'Directory Entries' (or security model).  I have found the solution if you take the path of creating POWERCUBES through transformer and including the item you'd like to burst on as the 'SHORT NAME' description of the dimension you are creating.

Praveen ... I saw you were interested ... please stay tuned for some solution docs.
