Hi,

We're running Cognos 8.3 and have just been testing with IE8.  We have disabled XSS filters in order to run and view reports in IE8.  However, we are having trouble opening multiple instances of Cognos Connection in IE8 in separate browser sessions.  I am able to login to one environment (i.e. Test) without trouble but when I open another IE8 window and open another environment (Dev) I get CAM-AAA-0063 The function 'CAM_VerifyUserSessionID' failed.  I've tried tweaking Security settings in IE8 along with Compatability View without success so far.  I figured there is some setting somewhere in IE8 since this was never a problem with IE7.  This is our most common method for moving reports so it is a problem we'd like to solve.  I can workaround by using IE7.

Has anyone experienced this issue?  And hopefully found a fix?

Thanks,
Joe

Most likely this is a broswer issue with IE 8.  Within Cognos Configuration>Security (i think)>  do you have Cognos allowing session information to be shared?

I am running 8.4.1 and had IBM verify that for IE 8 to login with different user accounts I have to choose File>New Session from within the browser.

thanks allen.  yes, in cognos config beneath security>authentication, we have the following property set to false on all environments.  Allow Session information to be shared between client applications.  In fact all settings there are default.

I am still testing changes in IE8 to see if I can find something as this wasn't a problem in IE7.  I will post if I find something.

thanks for the reply!

Please try to follow the steps 1 & 2 mentioned below serially as this might be helpful in solving your problem:
Setting Option: Advanced Tab
1.   In Internet Explorer: Go to -> Tools menu-> Internet Options-> Advanced tab
2.   Go to the Security section all the way at the bottom.
3.   Clear the check on the "Do not save encrypted pages to disk"
4.   Click on "Apply" and "Ok" to apply the settings

Setting Option: Automatic prompting for file download
1.   In internet explorer: Go to—>Tools menu->  ->Internet Options->Security (Second TAB)
2.   Click Button "Custom Level "->Scroll to Downloads under "Settings" section
3.   Choose Downloads ->Automatic prompting for file download -> Choose the Enable option available there
4.   Click on "Ok" to apply the settings
5.   Close all Internet Explorer windows
6.   Start IE and download the file again

Hope it helps.

Thanks Arpitagrawal9 for the post.  I had these settings already configured with same result.  I did find another post elsewhere that mentioned using the InPrivateBrowsing option under the Safety tab (Ctrl+Shift+P) when entering a new session.  This works for my needs so I can toggle between seperate Cognos environments when moving objects to and fro.

Thanks again.
