Is anyone using Cognos Office Connection with Reportnet 1.1 or Cognos  8?

We are looking at using it now that it supports Microsoft Word ââ,¬Â¦ but have found very little info on it apart from a couple of PDFs via Cognos Support?

I also donââ,¬â,,¢t see it as a download in the download section ââ,¬Â¦. Is it bundled with some thing else or installed separately?

Any help would be great esp from those who have installed and/or are using it>

Cheers,

Hi Steve, this is an old post so I hope you are still monitoring it...

Cognos Office Connection (COC) has some pratfalls that you must be aware of.

COC is actually included in the default installation of C8 (and I beleive RN as well).  There is a file available on the installation server that needs to be shared to allow the MS Add-in.  You must also have the .NET Framework (SP2) installed on the client machine.

After your client install is complete, you then need to add the cognosgateway to the properties of the MS file (PPT, Excel, or Word).

Be careful when running prompted reports agains PowerCubes.  An unresolved bug can rear it's ugly head if all of the following conditions are met:

The logging level is set to ââ,¬Å"Requestââ,¬Â or higher for CCS (aka Report Data Service)
The report being imported is prompted
The report is against an OLAP data source, and the prompt value resolves to a MUN

Attached is the COC installation Document for C8.
No, a proof is a proof. What kind of a proof? It's a proof. A proof is a proof, and when you have a good proof, it's because it's proven.
