Hi,

I am trying to open or export report studio report in Excel 2002, Excel 2000 single sheet, CSV formats but it shows screen for 4-5 seconds and vanishes.

I can successfully run the report in HTML format then open/export in PDF & XML format.

I am using Cognos 8.4.1 & MS office 2003 Professional Edition installed on MS 2003 Server 64 bit OS.

Any suggestions/idea?

S.G.D.

As mentioned here http://businessintelligence.ittoolbox.com/groups/technical-functional/cognos-l/can-not-run-reports-in-excel-format-in-cognos-83-2885201 I am able to open/export & save the report in excel format if I press 'ctrl' key continueasly.

But still not able to see report in excel format without holding 'ctrl' key.

i have checked that my IE's popup-block is disabled. Any clues?

I had the same problem. Turned out that I had the Google toolbar installed and Google was blocking the new window as a pop-up. Check your browser toolbars and see if it has Google/Yahoo or something else like that.

Hi cognostechie,

I have checked the IE's toolbar but nothing has installed. Not sure where is it new window getting blocked?  :-\

Moreover, report opens perfectly fine in new window when I export it to PDF format.

Hi,

You can follow the following steps sequentially to resolve the issue:
1.   Setting Option: Advanced Tab

1.   In Internet Explorer: Go to -> Tools menu-> Internet Options-> Advanced tab
2.   Go to the Security section all the way at the bottom.
3.   Clear the check on the "Do not save encrypted pages to disk"
4.   Click on "Apply" and "Ok" to apply the settings

2.   Setting Option: Automatic prompting for file download

1.   In internet explorer: Go to—>Tools menu->  ->Internet Options->Security (Second TAB)
2.   Click Button "Custom Level "->Scroll to Downloads under "Settings" section
3.   Choose Downloads ->Automatic prompting for file download -> Choose the Enable option available there
4.   Click on "Ok" to apply the settings
5.   Close all Internet Explorer windows
6.   Start IE and download the file again

Please let me know if this was helpful or not.

Thanks and regards
