Dear all,

I'm trying to get in the Active Report in Cognos, and the only valid information (to my opinion, in terms of demo) I have seen is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPfMdD5jkhI

So, now, with my very small knowledge around this, I have things working and others not. The main problem for me today is "how to filter a chart with a multi selection ?"
It this small test I have:
. a Data Listbox, used to make some selections and to set the values of the active report variable
. a Data Deck contains the chart, for which I have defined a new connection, between Data Listbox -> active report variable -> Data Deck
. a Chart in the Data Deck, with a master detail relationship

But the only thing I have is a behaviour like a single select parameter, not a multi select parameter. It seems to me for the moment that it is coming from the Data Deck, as I have tried with a List (which is working correctly "outside" of the Data Deck), but with a master detail relationship on the Data Deck, and then I have again a behaviour like a single select parameter.

Does anybody knows how to process ?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Best regards,
Vinc.

Hi,

I have realized that there is a section dedicated to Active Reports, sorry.
May be if possible this question should be moved to the right place.

Vinc.

Hi Sunchaser,

multi selection is actually a gap in this release. Due to the chart rendering process which is done on the report server not on the client, all charts must be pre rendered, when you work with an active report. When you want to allow multi selection, you have to render chart for all possible combinations.

Hope this helps you.

Hi lindero,

Thanks for your answer, sorry that I didn't come back to this topic for a so long time.
Yes, it took me a while to understand that there were obviously some limitations on Active Reports. (this would lead me o an other question, if I have enough time)

Thanks in any case,
vinc.
