Prompt appearing twice

I have a parameter p_filter and a associated prompt in a report. This is present in the prompt page. When I run the report, I get this prompt first as a text box and whne I enter some text in it and click on finish, it takes me to the prompt page having all the prompts. When I have a prompt page, why AM I being prompted first for this parameter and then to the prompt page.Thanks for all your help

Hi,

It sounds like one of the queries used for one or more objects in the prompt page is filtered with one of the parameters.
So before Cognos is able to launch the prompt page, you have to give a value to the parameter.

Hi,
You can once again verify if both the parameters are exactly the same, the parameter of the prompt as well as the one defined in the filter of the query i.e. p_filter. Any small spelling mistake in them, will lead to a different parameter. Also, if the requirement allows, you can provide default selection to the prompt and then check its functioning.
