Hi,
Is there any compatibility issue of Excel 2007 with Cognos planning?

i recently installed MS 2007. when i tried to Quick export of data from contributor web grid to excel, the dimnesion values are getting exported but the measure values are not.

am using Excel 2007 to view excel 2002 datas in compatibility mode.

seached in ibm site for any support material but could not find any.

Guys..pls advice what could be the issue  and resolution here.

Cheers

Hi Knight,

As far as I can remember I haven't seen any issues with Excel exporting and behaving like you've described.  A few things to start:

1. What version of planning are you using?
2. What version of excel were you using previously?  I will assume the Quick Export functioned fine?
3. Have you tried doing a normal export?

Cheers

Hey Ericlfg,
Thx fr the reply

1. version: Planning 8.4.1
2. Version 2002..no Quick export is not wrking fine...when i export, the excel opens with no values and only with dimensions and my contributor gives the follownig error
"There was an internal application problm. Try to save ur work and exit the application"
3. Yep..same issue

Eric, what are the basic things that needs to be taken in to account when a user moves from Excel 2002 and installs 2007. any addons or additional settings to be done?..iam compltly unaware of these if there any. pls suggest.

Thx
TDK

Hey TDK,

Are you experiencing the same issue in all applications, or just a specific application that you've been testing with?  If you haven't tested in other applications, please give that a try.  The fact that you're getting an unhandled error exception leads me to believe you may be running into a defect.  I believe it was in relation to nested dimensions or possibly sizing of the export (total number of dimensions and member items)

Please try setting up a sample application (go_capex, or go_expenses) and try the same thing.  Let's rule out an application specific issue or an environmental issue.
