[Resolved]-The IBM Cognos gateway is unable to connect to the Cognos server.

Hi,

I am using Cognos 8.4 on Win 2003 server with IIS 6.0. Due to project requirement we have installed IBM Datastage to same server and then Cognos server stopped working however it started working as expected. Please refer this http://www.cognoise.com/community/index.php/topic,13377.0.html

Now, we have uninstall IBM Datastage server from Cognos Server machine however Cognos server is stopped working again and it shows below message when I try to hit the Cognos server URL though IE or browse 'cognos8' virtual directory through IIS 6.0.

Cognos service is running in Cognos configuration and Content store also testing successfully.

I am trying to understand what is the root cause of this issue since 4-5 hours. Kindly reply with your thoughts or solution if anyone came across such wield situation.

Even Content manager URI (http://servername:9300/p2pd/servlet) and Dispatcher URI (http://servername:9300/p2pd/servlet/dispatch) also not working in IE and shows 'The page cannot be displayed.' message.

Any clue?  ???

Have you allowed ISAPI or CGI extensions in IIS web extensions?
Also, add cg-bin as a new extension and browse to Cognos cgi-bin directory and then allow it.

Hi Suraj,

I have already done as suggested. Congos server was running fine until Datastage uninstalled from same server.

Congos service is running in 'Services' and even in 'Cognos Configuration'.

I can see IBM Cognos 'splash' screen when I hit the Cognos server URL though IE or browse 'cognos8' virtual directory through IIS 6.0.

I am still struggling Cognos server to up and running however still no luck. :(

Please help to resolve this issue otherwise it is impossible for me to match my report delivery deadlines !!!  :-\

Cognos server is up and running now after installation of '.NET Framework 1.1' service pack and successful execution of 'chkdsk' utility on SAN drive where Cognos is installed.

Downloaded service pack from here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/839174

I believe some of the files which are required by Cognos also removed while uninstalling Datastage server.
