I'm encountering a problem after the installation of IBM Cognos 10. The installation itself seemed flawless since I didn't encouter any issues, but after this I'm unable to start the Cognos service. I'd appreciate it if someone is capable to provide some help or better, a solution. :-)

These are the steps I followed:
First I've uninstalled IBM Cognos 8.4. Next I backed up the config files (and didn't delete them so there stil there before installing C10). After this I installed all of our IBM Cognos 10 products (see below). I did this before I started Cognos Configuration. After installation was finished I started Cognos Configuration for the first time and it told me the old configuration-file would be upgraded. After this upgrade step I started de BI Service for the first time. It first tested the configuration and upgraded the content store (so far so good), and as the last step it starts the IBM Cognos 10 BI Service. This is when I'm encountering several errors (see below). Basically Cognos seems unable to start the Content Manager.

Some details on our environment:
Infrastructure (virtualized)
Widows 2003 Server R2
Standard x64 Edition
Service Pack 2

Cognos Architecture
Data, application and gateway are on the same server.

Installed products
All Cognos products (32 bit) are installed in to the same directory:
- IBM Cognos 10.1 BI Server
- IBM Cognos 10.1 BI Modeling
- IBM Cognos 10.1 Metric Server
- IBM Cognos 10.1 Metric Modeling
- IBM Cognos 10.1 Language Pack

Hi there,

Try pointing at a new schema for the content store and see if this works

If it does, then you may need to re-install 8.4 and deploy the entire content store to a zip and this is assuming you backed up the content store before attempting to upgrade it as you have.

Cheers

If Peter's answer doesn't work, try re-naming the service. In Cognos Configuration, in the left hand tree, the service would be the child entry of "IBM Cognos 10 Service". Rename it to something like "Cognos10" and try again.

I read the error message as :
DPR-DPR-1035 Dispatcher detected an error.
Failed to start the "IBM Cognos Enhanced Search" Services because your Lucene version is not compatible with this version of "IBM Cognos Enhanced Search". You need at least 2.4.1

Can You check this out further ? Not sure abt it though. Hope you have already gone past the issue
