Hello,

We are noticing some odd behavior after updating the 'promptLocal_en-us.js' config file in order to change the date format used by the built-in 'Date Prompt' in Report Studio. We would like to change this date format, 'g_mediumFormat', from "MMM d, yyyy h:mm:ss a" to "dd-MMM-yyyy h:mm:ss a" since it is the company standard in that the dates selected also appear on the reports. I made this change (and a handful of other changes to the medium format) and we consistently are seeing the following behavior:

1) First, open a report using the date prompt and the prompt page displays the original format: MMM d, yyyy h:mm:ss a
2) Next, open the report again (and multiple times after this) and the new format consistently appears: dd-MMM-yyyy h:mm:ss a

It appears to happen whenever you start a new Internet session first displaying the old format (which is a different format than the one in the promptLocal_en-us.js config file) and then consistently displaying the new (the same as the one in the updated config file) format. When I view the source of the web page (for either format) it is looking at the right config file that we updated (promptLocal_en-us.js) whereas I read something about also having to update the associated XML file (promptLocal_en-us.xml) which I have tried (and doesn't fix the problem). A couple other options we may try are:

1) Change all of the other config files, where appropriate (which would/could be painful and inconclusive).
2) Pull out all of the other config files and see if an ERROR could point us in the right direction (whereas everytime I look at the source it appears to be pointing at the right config file (promptLocal_en-us.js) so I am not sure if this will lead to anything either).

I am wondering if anyone can provide a little more information on what these prompt pages (specific to the date prompt) are actually doing behind the scenes. Or if anyone has every experienced a similar issue and how they fixed it or any other advice on how to consistently get the format we desire.

THANKS,
mcaton

Hi,

Just a wild stab - have you tried clearing down the browser cache since the config file was updated?

Yes, I did try this on the client machine (the one where I am testing and on other testers machines).

thanks,

Hello Kado !

Have you found anything on that issue ?

Thank you !

Let me reach out to a resource I have that was working on that environment with me. I remember that we eventually got around it but can't for the life of me remember how. I will let you know if I have any luck.

thanks,
