Dear Cognos gurues

I am new to the cognos community and my boss has asked me to work on old cognos version, Impromptu. I need to know how to use portal service with Cognos Impromptu?
My task is to develop reports using .imr files already developed by client. Then I have to display these reports on Microsoft sharepoint 2007.
I know this can be easily done is Cognos 8's portal service. However I am not sure about Cognos Impromptu compatibility.

Please guide me.

I don't recall there being any inherent compatibility between the Cognos 7 portal technology (Upfront) and MS Sharepoint, as there is in Cognos 8/10.  Cognos Connection in the newer platforms is based on the WSRP portal standard (like Sharepoint), but Upfront preceded this standard by a few years, so is entirely proprietary.

I'd guess your only possible option is to write calls into the CS7 web environment using Cognos Web Services (CWS) and your favourite development language, then integrate this code into Sharepoint.  Not my area of expertise though, sorry.

Regards,

MF.

Hmmmm.
Well I was afraid of that. Can I use RSS feed along with Cognos URL??

MFGF

I honestly don't know, sorry. I no longer have an installed CS7 instance to check against either :(
