Hi,

My name is Rob Walker (Bet you never guessed that from my profile name).

I've been using Cognos since Impromtu 3 so about 15 years now and while I am a Londoner born and bred I've been living and working in the lovely City of Edinburgh for the last three years.

After working for JD Wetherspoon for a decade (no they don't sell out of date beer before you ask me), worked for a couple of IBM Partners and now decided to take the leap a few months back and go it by myself.

Cheers

Rob

Lynn

Ooooh! I love guessing games! What does the "s" stand for???

???

Sylvester?
Stallone?
Sigfreid?
Sally?

Kidding aside now....I learn a lot from reading your posts and am glad you take the time to participate :)

RobsWalker68

Hmm, I quite like the ring of Sally

I've give you a clue begins with 's' ends with 'h' and have 5 letters !  That should keep you occupied for a while  :D

Cheers

Rob

Lynn

South, sloth, slash, smash, shush, slush, sixth, sinch, slosh

or maybe....Smith?

p.s. turns out there's an app for that!

RobsWalker68

Ahh thats no fun, your right its sloth  :P

MFGF

Lynn, I hope you didn't pay for that app.  It's not very thorough.

Synth?
Smyth?
Ssssh?

or the less well-known (but definitely real) options

Smugh?
Sirgh?
Synph?
Seadh?
Sqzrh?
or, finally
Muppet?

Rob, we MUST be homing in on the real answer by now... ??
Meep!

RobsWalker68

Well, while I admit 'Sqzrh' would be an interesting name to have and Sloth being an incarnation of the deadly sin is quite cool.  But I will put you out of your misert by admitting in this instance to the relatively boring Smith !

MFGF

Aha. Is that a middle name or a double-barrelled surname (if you don't mind me asking)?

Now we've got to the bottom of your 'S', I'm keeping a low profile :-)

MF.

No, it's not Flash Gordon, before you ask!
Meep!

Lynn

I'm sorry. There are simply too many F's there for me to make any guesses and not get banned from the site :)

Plus it isn't clear if the GF at the end is some superflous title acronym or if the FG in the middle is the bit in question

RobsWalker68

It's a middle and not double barrelled, so afraid I'm not aristocracy.

It's a kind of Scottish thing, one of my Dads grandmothers maiden names or something like that anyway.  I can never quite remember

<sigh>.  Flatulence may be a bad thing in itself, but will not earn you a ban.

But if it was that, you'd expect to see SBD in there, so I guess that rules it out.

Thanks Rob.  Sounds very grand to me.  So you have some Scottish ancestry?

Close!  Head 40 miles further south - it's Potteries Duck :)

Hope the Scottish accent isn't rubbing off onto you! ;)

To be honest MF after 3 years I'm holding out well.  I still sound more Jamie Oliver than Gary Tank Commander (not sure if you get that programme down South) and I still call my girlfriend Duchess instead of Doll or Hen  ;)

Although I must admit I have noticed over the last year my 'Yes' has become 'Aye' and didn't has become didnae.  Of course if I get to going oot for the messages or I start to use the 100 variations of ken then thats me gone native!

Anyway enjoy your night in the Rovers Return  ;D

Cheers

Rob

MFGF

Ahhh - it looks like the first vestiges of the accent are starting to creep in there Rob!  You need to be very careful - sending a PM to explain why! :)
Meep!
