Cognos Deployment

Hello friends,
I am learning cognos report studio 8.4.1 for the last 3 months, I have created many reports in report studio.
I am using the trial version.
I have gone through the ebooks of framework manager,report studio solved the workshops, now I am planning to Deploy cognos reports.
Can anyone please guide a step by step process or send me some imp links regarding how to deploy the reports to the customers.
Any help is appreciated.

I have gone through how to export a package or Content store and created a deployment archieve now they r saying to import the archieve into the target environment. I want to know the target environment,what needs to be installed in target environment.

Hi,

First of all when you say 'customers' I presume you mean this in a purely academic sense i.e. they are not real customers as that would breach your license conditions under the trial version to not use it for commercial purposes.

That said as a scenario, imagine you have two physical servers, development and production, and you wish to deploy your development reports to the production environment.

The first step, as you have indicated, is to create an export on your development environment by navigating to Content Administration and running a New Export task for your chosen content.  This will create you an export file.

Next physically copy this file to the deployment archive in your target enviroment, in our case the production server.  On the Production server again navigate to Content Administration but this time run a New Import task.

You would also need to be careful in setting up the Data Sources in Production environment to point to the Production databases and do not include those in the Export (unless you have only one DB for both). You would probably need to set security too..
