G'day all

A weird problem started with our FM models two days ago.Ã,  A model that could be opened and worked fine in the evening could not be opened the following morning.Ã,  The error message is obscure and even the Cognos Support techie didn't know what the error codes meant.

I created a new model today and using TextPad compared the .cpf file with one that wouldn't open.Ã,  The corrupted file has pieces missing!Ã,  At seemingly random locations in the code blocks of spaces, eight long, have somehow overwritten what was there.

E.g. http:\www.cognos.com in the new .cpf file was httÃ,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  ognos.com in the corrupted one.

Has anyone in the forum seem this before?Ã,  Do you know what causes it?

Sometimes I receive such equally user friendly messagesÃ,  Ã, ;) from FM.

Recycling the reportnet server always helps me resolve most such errors.

Please try that and let us know the outcome

Actually not solved but have a work-around.

I copied the contents of another .CPF file to replace the broken one and the project can now be opened in FM.

The .CPF file contents are ALWAYS the same for any project.
