Hi All,

we've had an issue and lost a few reports. The content store is on a SQL Server 2005 machine and we have last nights backup. Is it as simple as just

1) stop all cognos services
2) restore the SQL Server database
3) restart cognos services

or is the preferred method to restore the database to a test environment and then either export the reports or copy/paste the XML?

I've been trying to find this in the documentation but havent had much luck.

thanks,

Dave

Hi Dave,

If you are in a position where you have spoken to all of your user community and can be absolutely certain that no new content or configuration changes have been added to the existing content store since the last back up then I would go with the restore option.  Make sure of course you take a backup of the content as it is now.

If you cannot be certain about this then a restore to a new environment and a deployment or copy/paste would be the safer option.

Kind Regards

Rob

Thanks Rob,

we went with option 2, restored to test environment then copy/paste the report xml over. Got all the reports back so everyone is happy!
