Hi Sudhakar,

You only need to add a database resource to the notification folder if you have a multi-server install with the Content Manager on one machine and your Report Server(s) on another.  This is to allow the Notification component to be able to communicate with your Content Store database (so in this case the database definition needs to be the same as for Content Store component).

If you have ReportNet running on one machine, then the Content Manager does this job, so the database definition is not required for the Notification component.  All you need is the SMTP Mail Server (and port), the Account and Password to use, and the Default Sender.

Hope that helps,

MF.

PS if you click on the Notification component in Cognos Configuration, you can see a really good description of what I've just described by looking at the help pane below the list of properties on the right-hand side.
Meep!
