1) Cognos8 BI Server-- ReportNet,Contentstore
2) Cognos8 BI Modeling-framework-- Framework and Map Manager
3) Cognos8 BI MetricServer--Metric Server
4) Cognos8 BI MetricModeling-- Metrics Modeling
5) Cognos8 BI OLAPModeling-- I think this is equivalent Powerplay

What is meant by cognos 8 BI Server -> engine residing on application server that manages Cognos 8 BI tools, requests to those tools, and output from those tools to Cognos Connection.
(does it contain  reportnet by default.) - If you paid for it.  CRN is not called ReportNet in Cognos 8 BI.  Instead it is referred to as Report Studio and Query Studio.  Each may be a separate license.
cognos 8 bi metric server - the engine part of Metric Studio.  This replaces Metric Manager.
cognos 8 bi modeling server - the engine part of Framework Manager (meta data).
metric modeling - The developer part of Metric Studio.
composite information server
mobile analysis - PowerPlay Client.
what applications does this contain - Analysis Studio, Report Studio, Query Studio, Connection, Metric Studio, Data Manager.
