Hi people,

Does anyone know why i cannot open the Cognos Web Upfront?  I was before using this url and it worked well  >  http://cognos/cognos or http://IP_ADD_HERE/cognos

but now, that cannot be displayed.

Is there any set-up that needs to configure?

Thank You

MFGF

What exact error do you see?

Have you checked that the Web Server is running, and that the Upfront service is started?

in the old server, my error after inputting the user and password is
"The Access Manager Server ticket service is not configured or is not available"

while in the new.. Page cannot be displayed.

is there an issue if some of the folders that are used to be on "shared" was removed to avoid viruses?

thank you

Take a look at the services running on the old server - in particular, is the Ticket Service started?

It sounds like the web server service(s) is (are) not started on the new server, or the web server has not been configured to pass requests on to the upfront gateway.

It depends which web server you are using (and what version).  If you are using IIS 6, for example, make sure that the World Wide Web Publishing service is started, and in the IIS console. make sure that the local site is acceping requests.

Thank u for your reply. i will try to check on that.

another issue is with our new server, the access manager - admin only shows the Directory Server Names.  It supposed to show the Root Class - User Class. so i can create or modify user access.

Please help me also on that one.

Thank u so much for your kind support.

Did you configure the namespace on your new server?  There is a setting in Configuration Manager to extend the Directory Server namespace to add the Access Manager-specific entries.  This should give you a Root User Class and an Administrator user.  Once you have these, you can then import an LAE file (exported from your old server) to bring in all the other user classes and users.

The old server is working now again :)

I will try that configuration set-up you shared.

Thanks again!

HI MF,

the New server is still down. Page cannot be displayed. is there any issue if the access limit in the server was set, ex. firewall setting, etc.?

thanks again

MFGF

This sounds a lot like a problem with your web server.  Are you using IIS?  What virtual directories are defined in the web server?

Yeah we have lots of problems. I dont have training on this but i am the one assigned that is why i am seeking for help and want to thank u for sharing your knowledge.

we have the cognos in the websites under IIS Manager. It is working in its local server. I can open the web upfront there in the server and able to view the cubes.

I also checked that port 389 is included in the exception in the Firewall bec. it is set to "On".

Is there any other set up that needs to be done?

Thank u!

MFGF

Are there any other web directories configured on the server that you could test from another machine?  If so, you can pinpoint whether it is an issue with IIS (if you can't get to other pages) or with the firewall/configuration settings.

MF.
