It seems so simple...

I would like to take some of my old Report Studio based dashboards, rebuild them in the upgraded 10.1 dashboard tool to utilize some of the cool stuff - like commenting on individual cells etc.

While I can recreate dashboards and leverage the new tools, I cannot seem to find a way to make a Dashboard a Tab within Connections.

in 8.4 we have the following tabs setup

Public Folders(Default home) / My Folders / CBMR / Customdashboard1 / Etc

To leverage the new capabilities but keep the navigation the same for my users I want to create a dashboard and have it be a Tab replacing "CBMR" for example.

I even considered getting the URL of a Dashboard and using the HTML Viewer since we have single signon but I can't seem to get the URL for an individiual dashboard...

I can use the new graphs to rebuild the reports in Report Studio with a fancy new look but you cannot comment on objects within these reports.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Yep.  It took a little figuring out, but I know how to get a Business Insight dashboard available as a portal tab in Cognos Connection.

1. Create a new page in Cognos Connection.
2. Define the page layout as a single column, and add an HTML Viewer portlet.
3. Using a Firefox browser, launch your Business Insight dashboard.  Once this has opened in a new Firefox window, select and copy the URL shown in the grey dialog at the top.
4. Paste this URL into your HTML Viewer portlet properties.
5. Add the page as a Cognos Connection portal tab.

We do not have access to Firefox, Corporate standard is IE8.
In IE8 on the Dashboard page I cannot see a URL nor can I manage to get one to display. There is no Status area and the standard IE Browser Framework is disabled.

So I took MFGF's idea and said how else can I get this URL?

Email is the answer

On the Dashboard page you can select to email the dashboard, this opens an email with the URL to the dashboard in the text area.

Simple Cut and paste and I know have my Dashboard as a Tab - using MFGF's recommendation of HTML Viewer above.

Thanks :)

Excellent!  Great lateral thinking! :)
