Custom Fonts - Does User See if not installed on their side?

A silly question...

If you install a custom font to the Cognos server (i.e. for use in ReportStudio), and use that font in a report...

...does the user viewing that report (obviously, from their machine) have to have that font installed as well?  ...or, on the users side (who doesn't have the font installed) will it render a default font (such as Times New Roman, or Arial)

thanks!

I figured this out:

1) In HTML (and Excel), the custom font must be installed on the client's browser, otherwise, it will just render as a generic default font.

2) In .PDF, the font is embedded into the document and will render properly on the client machine regardless of whether or not it has been installed on the client's machine or not.
