prompt and drill down!!!!

I gave a paraamter in the child table for the drill down when i drill through the paramater ,it returns empty rows.
SO when i went to child table and tried to retrive the result using the prompt created as the param.
even then it doesn return the value.the parameter is called the program  which has value like DYB,OOP,PTS,GTS.
The weirdest thing is that the prompt returns rows when i type in 'PTS' alone.BUt even PTS couldnt be drilled down from the parent table!!!!!!
i reli donno how to think!!!can somebody help me!!!!!

Hi,

I'm struggling to understand some of your terminology.  When you refer to a "child table", do you mean a Cognos 8 report that you are trying to drill through to?

What kind of package is the report based on - relational or dimensional?
How is the filter with the parameter (or query calculation with the parameter) defined in the report?
What kind of item are you prompting/filtering for - is it a query item, a member, an attribute etc?
