Hi,

There is no quick route to becoming a BI Developer. You can learn the theory from books, and even go on courses, but these can never substitute the experience, knowledge, and skills which are developed and refined over time while actually getting your hands dirty.

The problem is that BI is such a broad area. Business analysis, data modelling, data warehousing, project management, databases, ETL, SQL, HTML, architecture, programming....the list goes on. And even when you have a solid grounding in the core skills you then need to develop specific knowledge of different industries if you want employers to consider you.

The best way to get into the industry (if you're a complete newbie) is to do your military service in a graduate type position. Perhaps target one of the large consultancies where you'll pick up a lot of experience quickly. Whatever way, it will take time and effort, but there are certainly worse jobs you could do.

Good luck.
