Can't uninstall UpFront

I use Cognos BI version 7.3 MR2.

And I have a problem - upfront stops working. And I canââ,¬â,,¢t start UpFront DataStore Service. When I'm starting it from Configuration Manager there is an error: "Failed activation of Server. Unable to determine error that occurred trying to run command upfunpack.bat -x UpfUnpackError.log." In the UpfUnpackError.log there is an error: "Could not log in to the database server. Error when creating the session." I check Cognos Support Knowledge Base and have tried some suggestions, such as: stop services, check datastore names in the Configuration Manager and ini files, delete chk and chg files. All this things doesn't help me - I have the same error. Then I decide to re-install UpFront. But there is next problem - I can't do it! I go to the Control Panel> Add/Remove Programs> Cognos Series 7. Check all components of UpFront, "unconfiguring components" dialog appears, but quickly "finish dialog" changes it. And UpFront doesn't uninstall properly, because UpFront Components again appears in the installing components.

Could you give me some suggestions what I can try to do next? Thanks a lot.

Just try an install over the top. Otherwise, try deleting all the files in Program Files\Cognos and then installing. This won't clean the registry but the new install should fix this. Just make sure you back up all your data first.

Thanks for your answer. I solved the problem next way. After uninstall and reboot, I edited the cmplst.txt and deleted all lines referring to Upfront.  Then I was able to re-install the Upfront and hopefully start the services.
