I am trying to create a new cube in TM1.  Was wondering if I have to create the dimensions first, then choose those new dimensions for the new cube?  I already have several created dimensions for the old cube which I would like to use.  Can I just use those and not mess up my old cube & data.  If you have a step by step instruction manual on how to create a cube in TM1, please send to me.  My email address: viviannq73@hotmail.com.  Much thanks in advance for your help and time.

Assuming you have already created dimensions ....

Step by step guide follows:
1/ right-click "Cubes", select "Create new cube"
2/ select dimensions to include in cube and order of dimensions in cube
3/ click "create cube" button
4/ done.  ;D

No more to it than that.  Maybe a quick read of the manual is in order??

Also you need consider the order of dimension.

-include measure dim last
Order dimension from

-Smallest/Sparse
-Largest/dense

And then,

To Transfer the data into a cube, perform the following steps.
Connect to the source and preview the data.
Create and map variables contents.
Indentify cube, dimensions and measures
Save and execute process.

Thank you and for your help.

Can you show me how to create a new dimension with multiple layers (children / child level) or a very complicate "hierarchy"?  We already have a similar hierarchy created and I like to modify that hierarchy and save as a new hierarchy dimension.  This new hierachy dimension is to be used in my new cube.  Any short cuts you can suggest?

Thanks again for your help

Just be aware that if you are referring to the official Cognos/IBM training course materials, they are copyright and you are not allowed to share them.
