Hi all,

Could you please tell me what are the requirements to do the incremental update.

I want to know one thing like is it neccessary to have the full build cube to apply the incremental update or can we do the incremental update without having the full build cube.

Its very urgent.

Thanks in advance
Sarayu

Incremental updates simply add new data to an existing cube.  You cannot perform an incremental update unless you have previously built the cube fully.

Hi MF,

Thank you for your answer.

Before that I tried without having the full build of the cube. Its working fine.

First I have build cube with 1 week of data then I have enabled the incremental update option and I have chenged my data source. Now its working fine.

Hello does any one know how to create iqd in 8.4 and import to transformer

You need to use Framework Manager.  Create a Query Subject with the required columns of data in it.  In the properties of the Query Subject, set the Externalize Method to IQD.

Add the query subject to a package and publish the package - during the publish process, check the option to create externalized files.

Why would you want to use IQD as a data source though?  It's old Cognos 7 technology, and quite clunky to use in 8.4.  It's much easier to use a Cognos 8 report or a package as your data source instead.

MF.

I have to use an IQD Solution because of the Database I am hitting has many User Defined Functions in DB2.  These UDF's have cause me many issues throughout this whole process.  First it was Framework Manager not recognizing the UDF's.  Now if I have report studio report call one it runs fine.  But when I use that same report studio report to source my Transformer Model, I get errors for every UDF.  So to get around that, I use an IQD.  Its manual when I need to update my query, but it gets the job done.
